A Voice from the Sacristy (3 Sunday of Easter, 14 April 2024)

The Good Shepherd's Voice for God's Shepherds
2

Join Nathan Hoff for A Voice from the Sacristy. The Gospel Reading for the Third Sunday of Easter is from Luke 24.36b-48. The theme for this week is the preacher’s telos and is taken from the last of six stanzas from the sacristy prayer at Ridderholmen Church in Stockholm, Sweden:
May the words of thy mouth be the seed of salvation,
thy walk show others the way;
thy prayers give Satan a rebuff;
and may thy death be the entry of a good and faithful servant
into the joy of thy Lord and Saviour.

Nathan Hoff is married to Joy. They have worked together at Trinity Lutheran Church in San Pedro, CA (Port of LA) since 2005. In 2018 they began the Theta Community, a Benedictine-inspired residential-joined-by-local young adults for a year-at-a-time commitment to a shared rule of life and rhythm of prayer.
