This is God, our God forever and ever. He will be our guide forever. Psalm 48.14
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” John 14.6
The Moravian Daily Texts are good promises leading us into the new year. I am asking fellow Trinity leaders to consider these questions with me.
What would we do if we all were just setting out to plant a church in San Pedro? What would we prioritize? Where would we spend our energy? What would our prayer sound like? What would our schedule look like?
How do we address middle-age discipleship malaise (or exhaustion)?
How do we address older-age loneliness (or isolation)?
How do we foster stronger connections between Trinity adults and Middle School/High School disciples?
Trinity Greenhouse is an aspect of Trinity’s current calling, especially during this era. Is it a core component of Trinity’s common life into the future regardless of who is serving in pastoral leadership?
Praying for our next congregational president. John Ryan has served long and well. Who is God raising up next? What does Trinity particularly need in the next season? The first qualification is that they are a spiritual leader—a person of prayer. What else?
A question I am asking myself: What if, instead of this being my 20th year at Trinity, I had just received a new pastoral call to become pastor here—year 1! After moving into 602 S Weymouth (with 1 adult child instead of 4 littles), what would I do on my first day? My first week? My first month? My first year? What is the most important work before us? What needs addressing? What needs repair? What needs healing? What needs emphasizing? What would I do differently? What would I hold tightly? What would I hold loosely?
Lord, give us eyes to see you, the way.
Give us a heart to know you, the truth.
Give us courage to practice resurrection, for you are our life.
