Who is Nathan Hoff?

Short Profile: Son of the Father, chosen and loved by Jesus, and filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit, I am called to live into this identity with Joy, and our four children. I am also called to pastor in San Pedro at Trinity Lutheran Church and to direct Trinity Greenhouse. Nathan is also the host of the Peterson Center’s podcast Low in the Water.

Short Biography: Nathan was born at San Pedro Hospital when his dad was finishing up his military service at Ft Mac here in Pedro. He has lived in Seattle (where he graduated from High School, then college at Trinity Lutheran College formerly Lutheran Bible Institute), Dubuque, the Texas panhandle, Peterson (MN-269 population), Minneapolis/St Paul (where he graduated from Luther Seminary in 2002), Portland, Stavanger (Norway), Orange County, and boomeranged back to San Pedro when he received a call to serve as pastor here at Trinity in 2005. Nathan has lived in San Pedro longer than anywhere else in his life. Nathan is married to Joy and they have four grown children: Christian (married to Molly), Annika, Samuel, and Peter. 

Education & Fellowships:

Trinity Lutheran College (Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle), Everett, Washington, Bachelor of Arts, 1997.

Luther Seminary, Saint Paul, Minnesota, Master of Divinity, 2002. Clinical Pastoral Education (1 unit) at Crystal Cathedral in Orange County. The 1999-2000 school year was spent in Stavanger, Norway in an exchange between Luther Seminary and Misjonshøgskolen (MHS).

Western Theological Seminary, Holland, Michigan, Doctor of Ministry, 2024. Cohort: Holy Presence--Eugene Peterson & The Pastoral Imagination. Dissertation: Building Benedict—Benedict Builds: Benedictine Wisdom in Building Leaders who Build Communities in a Seismic Age
